2026 Fantasy Outlook
Gusto made the Astros out of camp, but things went downhill from there. He worked in the pen and in the rotation while the Astros dealt with injuries picking up 7 wins and a strikeout per inning at the cost of unsightly ratios. Gusto was sent to Miami as part of the Jesus Sanchez deal and the numbers got worse capped off with a nine earned run performance in his final 3.2 innings of the season when a shoulder impingement issue shut his season down. He allowed 17 earned runs in 15.2 innings of work with Miami. His fastball plays up well as he held the league to a .217 average (.209 xBA) and that pitch had a 27.6% whiff rate to it. However, the other six pitch types he threw did not have much success and a path forward here could be to simplify his repertoire and find a second quality pitch because the quantity approach is not working well. Gusto could be intriguing out of the pen where he could maximize his best pitch, but out of the rotation, no se Gusto. We'll see ourselves out. Read Past Outlooks

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Gusto was slated to make his big-league debut on the final day of the 2024 season as a starter against the Guardians, but the game got canceled due to inclement weather. The 25-year-old righty still found his way onto the 40-man roster and has been mentioned this offseason by manager Joe Espada as a big-league rotation option heading into 2025. Gusto's only above-average pitch is his changeup, while his low-90s fastball is unremarkable and he throws a pair of OK breaking balls. It's his above-average control that could allow him to have success in the right matchup. Gusto logged a strong 8.5 percent walk rate in 148.1 innings at Triple-A last year, but his 22.6 percent strikeout rate was the worst mark of his career. He could be a useful streamer in deeper mixed leagues if opportunity arises, and at 6-foot-4, 232 pounds, he's built to handle a full season's workload.
