2026 Fantasy Outlook
Garcia finally received an opportunity to close games in 2025, securing nine saves for a share of the Rangers' team lead in the category. However, the southpaw never fully took the reins as Texas' closer. The majority of Garcia's saves were recorded between late-May and the end of July, but he only had a 57 percent team save share during that period before his manager turned elsewhere. The 29-year-old last recorded a save on July 30, ultimately ceding closing duties to Shawn Armstrong and Phil Maton, who proved more reliable. Garcia's seven blown saves didn't help his cause, nor did his -0.93 Win Probability Added that was the lowest mark among Texas relievers. The Rangers lost several relievers to free agency, leaving Garcia as a candidate to receive save chances under new manager Skip Schumaker in 2026, but we're only penciling him in as part of a committee for now, as the team will likely add high-leverage depth that has closing experience this offseason. Unable to close door on Phillies
Garcia surrendered two unearned runs on one hit and one walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning during Saturday's 5-4 win over the Phillies.
Analysis
With the Rangers leading 3-0 going into the bottom of the ninth inning, manager Skip Schumaker called Garcia's number in Texas' first save situation of the season. Garcia struck out Kyle Schwarber and got Bryce Harper to ground out to begin the frame. After dispatching those tough lefty batters, the southpaw reliever ran into trouble against two righty batters. Alec Bohm singled ahead of a walk by pinch hitter Edmundo Sosa. Garcia was then pulled in favor of Chris Martin, but Martin was unable to close the door after a Jake Burger error opened the flood gates. The early pull helped Garcia avoid a blown save, but it's clear he was the first option to close out the game. Both he and Martin are expected to get save chances for Texas this season.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Garcia made the Nationals' 2024 Opening Day roster as the only left-hander out of their bullpen. The 28-year-old was one of Washington's most dependable relievers, which afforded him more high-leverage opportunities than he has previously received in his young career. Garcia racked up 13 holds while recording career-highs in games played (72) and innings pitched (59.2). His 23.5 K-BB percentage ranked 18th among qualified relievers thanks to strikeout and walk rates that were both well above-average. Garcia's 4.22 ERA is a glaring blemish, but a 2.38 FIP, 2.71 SIERA and 2.53 xERA (97th percentile) all suggest he was unlucky in that department. He also posted 98th percentile metrics in hard-hit percentage allowed (30.2 percent) and barrel percentage allowed (3.1 percent). Garcia was a top internal candidate to replace Kyle Finnegan as Washington's closer in 2025, but he was instead traded to Texas. The Rangers don't have a clear solution to the ninth inning either, so Garcia could be in the mix to close along with veteran Chris Martin, who has traditionally served as a setup man.
