Garcia finally received an opportunity to close games in 2025, securing nine saves for a share of the Rangers' team lead in the category. However, the southpaw never fully took the reins as Texas' closer. The majority of Garcia's saves were recorded between late-May and the end of July, but he only had a 57 percent team save share during that period before his manager turned elsewhere. The 29-year-old last recorded a save on July 30, ultimately ceding closing duties to Shawn Armstrong and Phil Maton, who proved more reliable. Garcia's seven blown saves didn't help his cause, nor did his -0.93 Win Probability Added that was the lowest mark among Texas relievers. The Rangers lost several relievers to free agency, leaving Garcia as a candidate to receive save chances under new manager Skip Schumaker in 2026, but we're only penciling him in as part of a committee for now, as the team will likely add high-leverage depth that has closing experience this offseason.
