Sogard made his major-league debut in 2024 and appeared in 31 regular-season games for the Red Sox that year, but he wasn't able to improve on those numbers in 2025 as he spent the majority of his time with Triple-A Worcester. He put up solid numbers at the plate in Triple-A (.778 OPS with 16 steals, five homers and 28 RBI in 409 plate appearances) and translated that somewhat when called up by the parent club (.661 OPS with two steals and nine RBI in 104 major-league plate appearances). Sogard primarily played in the infield when he did suit up for Boston but showed off his versatility by playing three games at right field, and that utility will always make him a viable option to be recalled when the Red Sox are hit with an injury. 2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sogard had his contract selected in the second half of 2024 and made his MLB debut. The 27-year-old appeared at every infield position while Boston dealt with injuries. He served mostly at second base, which remains a position of uncertainty leading up to the regular season. There are several candidates in camp, including hot prospect Kristian Campbell, a healthy Vaughn Grissom and David Hamilton, who started the most games at second base in 2024. Boston is also in on Alex Bregman, who almost certainly would start at the second. Sogard is unlikely to start the season as a starter and would have to make the club as a utility infielder.
