2026 Fantasy Outlook
After a breakout campaign that featured 25 home runs and 10 stolen bases in 116 games, Toglia was penciled in as Colorado's everyday first baseman. The strikeout risk was already present following a 32.1 percent rate the year prior, but his swing-and-miss issues worsened last season, leading to frequent trips between the Rockies and Triple-A Albuquerque. Toglia raked for the Isotopes with a 1.025 OPS, yet the success did not translate to the majors, where he posted a .611 OPS that leaned heavily on a .761 home mark. His underlying power indicators remain encouraging, as both his barrel and hard-hit rates sit above average, but a path back to a full-time role hinges on significant improvement from last season's 39.2 percent strikeout rate. Lands with Reds on MiLB deal
Cincinnati signed Toglia to a minor-league contract Wednesday, per the MLB transactions page.
Analysis
Toglia looked to be a key part of Colorado's future when he posted a .767 OPS with 25 home runs, 55 RBI and 10 stolen bases over 457 plate appearances for the big-league club in 2024, but the 2019 first-round draft pick dropped off dramatically last year, slashing just .190/.258/.353 with 11 long balls, 32 RBI and three steals across 337 plate appearances. He's always demonstrated plenty of power and went deep 11 times over 42 contests for Triple-A Albuquerque last year, but Toglia has also struggled making a contact, and he posted an awful 39.2 percent strikeout rate with the Rockies in 2025. That was a large part of the reason why Colorado DFA'd and subsequently non-tendered him in November. However, the Reds will give him a chance to make an impression, though Toglia will likely open the season in the minors.

One of the few bright spots for the last-place Rockies in 2024, Toglia cracked 25 homers and stole 10 bags in 116 games between first base (107 games) and the outfield (15 appearances). After a couple years spent riding the shuttle between Triple-A and the majors, he found his way against big-league pitching. His batting average settled at just .218, but Statcast had Toglia at a .244 xBA on account of his impressive batted-ball metrics, and he walked at an 11.8 percent clip. He supplied most of his power away from Coors Field, hitting 17 of his 25 homers on the road. With a career strikeout rate of 33 percent and no MLB track record beyond last season, Toglia should be considered a risky option. That said, his slugging and home ballpark make him a reasonable gamble at a top-heavy first base position.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Receiving run at first
C.J. Cron doesn't have a clear timeline for his return from a back injury, according to Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com, which should allow Toglia to continue seeing regular reps at first base for the near future.
Analysis
Toglia has six starts at first base in 10 games since Cron landed on the injured list, though he has yet to find much success at the plate with a .174/.240/.217 slash line. Mike Moustakas started the other four contests at first and could take a larger share of the playing time if Toglia's offensive struggles persist.
