Power breakout at Triple-A

April 14, 2026
Lara is slashing .367/.456/.551 with two home runs, eight steals and a 6:8 K:BB in 13 games for Triple-A Nashville.
Analysis
Lara is known for his excellent speed and outfield defense, and while he has been a productive hitter while being young for his levels, his power has always been well below-average. This year, however, Lara has a .184 ISO after never logging an ISO over .087 in a full-season league from 2023 through 2025. His 103.6 mph max exit velocity is still below average, but his 44.2 percent hard-hit rate is strong for a 21-year-old at Triple-A with his defensive tools. This could just be a small-sample fluke, but if Lara continues to produce across the board offensively, it will only be a matter of time before he's up with the big club.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Lara reached High-A last season before his 19th birthday. He was aggressively assigned to Single-A to start the season after having only played in the Dominican Summer League in 2022. Power is the weakest part of Lara's game, but he has a chance to be a plus hitter, plus runner and quality defender in center field. The 5-foot-7 switch hitter gets high praise for his makeup and polish, which is why he was able to handle playing against much older competition in his stateside debut. Lara hit .285 at Single-A and .290 at High-A while being better than league average at both stops (116 wRC+ at Single-A, 107 wRC+ at High-A). His strikeout rate was below 20 percent at both stops and he stole 30 bases on 40 attempts in 87 games. He only hit two home runs, but his 110-mph max exit velocity suggests he could potentially get to double-digit homer power during his prime.
