Goes on injured list
The Dodgers placed Knack on the 15-day injured list Monday due to an intercostal strain, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Knack wasn't known to be dealing with an injury coming out of spring training, and it's unclear how long he might be sidelined to begin the season. He was roughed up for eight runs over 6.2 innings during Cactus League play, which had effectively took him out of the running for a spot on the Opening Day pitching staff. The Dodgers are dealing with multiple injuries in their rotation, so Knack could get some starts if his injury doesn't prove to be a long-term concern.

Knack impressed in his first taste of the majors last season despite bouncing between the big-leagues and minors and being deployed both as a starter and bulk reliever. The right-hander recorded a 3.65 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with a 69:18 K:BB over 69 innings -- numbers good enough to earn him a spot on the Dodgers' postseason roster, which led to one appearance in each of the NLDS, NLCS and World Series. While Knack gave up too many homers (14 over the 69 frames), he was largely able to limit the damage on the long balls by posting a 6.3% walk rate and by allowing opposing hitters to bat just .220 against him. The home runs will likely need to be reduced for Knack to sustain success in the majors, but that's a feasible outcome given that he surrendered half as many homers (seven) in almost exactly the same amount of innings (68) in Triple-A. It's unclear if Knack will start for the Dodgers to open 2025, however. He'll likely be competing during spring training with Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May, Bobby Miller and potentially others for one of the final two spots in Los Angeles' rotation.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Opening in rotation
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that a pitcher will be inserted into the rotation Friday against the Angels, reports Juan Toribio of MLB.com, and Knack should be a candidate to start that contest.
Analysis
The right-hander has pitched well in his first taste of the big leagues this year with a 2.61 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB over 20.2 innings, but he's been stuck at Triple-A Oklahoma City for most of the past month and a half. Even if called up Friday, it may only be a spot start for Knack since the Dodgers have three scheduled days off in the next 12 days.
