Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
No full-time reliever threw more innings than Leahy and his 88 frames in 2025. He began the season pitching earlier in games for Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol but quickly earned his skipper's trust in leveraged appearances. Leahy made his first and only start on the final day of the regular season, tossing three scoreless innings, and it was a preview of what's to come as the Cards stretch him out as a rotation option in 2026. The 28-year-old hasn't been a full-time starter since 2022 at Double-A Springfield, where he had a 5.23 ERA and 11.1 percent walk rate. Leahy's control has gotten much better since then (7.6 percent walk rate in the majors) and he throws six pitches, so it's not far-fetched to think he can handle the transition. He still has to win a rotation spot, but if he does, a rebuilding St. Louis club could give him some leash to see how it works out. Read Past Outlooks

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Should get rotation chance
The Cardinals plan to have Leahy stretch out during the offseason and compete for a rotation spot in 2026, reports Katie Woo of The Athletic.
Analysis
The right-hander started a bullpen game in the season finale to given him some experience prepping as a starting pitcher, and St. Louis will have continue him on that path this winter. Leahy pitched well out of the bullpen in 2025, recording one save and 18 holds in 62 outings with a 3.07 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 80:28 K:BB across 88 innings. The 29-year-old hasn't worked regularly as a starter since 2022 with Double-A Springfield, so he may not have a smooth transition back to the rotation.
