2024 Fantasy Outlook
Winn made his big-league debut last year at age 25 and mostly performed well, tallying 35 strikeouts against only eight walks in five starts and four relief appearances covering 42.1 innings. But when opposing hitters made contact, it was generally hard contact, and his 4.68 ERA tells the story more accurately than his 1.04 WHIP. He had a 4.08 ERA in 108 innings between Low-A, High-A and Double-A in 2022 and a 4.81 ERA in 58 innings with Triple-A Sacramento in 2023. His command might have miraculously improved and maybe Keaton will be the rare pitcher who performs better in the majors than he ever did in the minors, but the Giants aren't guaranteeing him a rotation spot out of the gate in 2024 and the right-hander can mostly be ignored on draft day in standard fantasy formats. Set for season-ending surgery
Winn is scheduled to undergo a season-ending ulnar nerve transposition procedure Monday on his right elbow, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Winn was initially placed on the 15-day injured list June 22 due to a nerve issue in his right elbow. He began his rehab program by throwing bullpen sessions in early July, but he was shut down from throwing Monday after experiencing additional discomfort and has now been recommended for surgery. Winn will shift his focus to getting healthy for spring training, but he'll finish the 2024 campaign with a 3-8 record, 7.16 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 48:20 K:BB across 55.1 innings.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Chance to enter rotation?
Winn could join the Giants' rotation with Alex Cobb being placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with an oblique injury, per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
ANALYSIS
Winn has worked in long relief for San Francisco twice in the past week, and he's pitched well with just two runs allowed across nine innings. The 25-year-old hasn't been as successful for Triple-A Sacramento this year with a 4.35 ERA in 12 outings, which could prompt the Giants to keep him in a bullpen role.
