24-Year-Old Second Baseman2B
Cleveland Guardians AAA
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Brito had something of a lost season in 2025, but he's still on the 40-man roster and is entering his final minor-league option year. The 24-year-old switch-hitting second baseman had thumb surgery in April, suffered a hamstring strain in July and eventually needed hamstring surgery in September. All told, he played 24 games at Triple-A last year, slashing .256/.357/.463 with three home runs and four steals, good for a 115 wRC+. Travis Bazzana hasn't ascended to the majors yet, but he figures to take over at the keystone sometime this summer, so Brito is running out of time to stake a claim to more than a utility role. Analysis
Brito didn't do much during his first stint in the majors, slashing .176/.250/.255 with a 30.4 percent strikeout rate. He's exiting the roster to clear space for the arrival of Travis Bazzana, who will take over as Cleveland's starting second baseman.

Stat Review
How does Juan Brito compare to other hitters?
This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
With Andres Gimenez dealt to Toronto and 2024 No. 1 overall pick Travis Bazzana not ready to assume the big-league second base job, this season is shaping up to be Brito's chance to show what he can do against big-league pitching. He doesn't have any plus tools, and currently doesn't even project to have any above-average tools, but Brito could hit around .250 or .260 with 20-homer power and a handful of steals. He slashed .256/.365/.443 with 21 home runs, 13 steals and a 16.1 percent strikeout rate in 144 games at Triple-A during his age-22 season. Unlike many Guardians middle infielders before him, Brito is just OK in the field and lacks impact speed, so he'll need to get on base at a strong clip while getting to all of his 50-grade power in games in order to profile as an everyday second baseman. The switch hitter could see time at third base or first base as needed, but he fits best at the keystone, which is Bazzana's spot in Cleveland long term. Brito will need to show something offensively as a rookie in order to figure into the club's long-term plans.
Brito has performed well in the minors, but Nolan Jones' performance for the Rockies in the second half of last season has made that November 2022 swap look like one of the more lopsided prospect for prospect trades in recent memory. For his part, Brito is trending like a bat-first infielder who could hit for a decent average with a strong OBP and 20-homer pop. He spent most of his age-21 season at Double-A while also seeing time at High-A and Triple-A en route to a .271/.377/.434 season line with 14 home runs, a 15.9 percent strikeout rate and a 14.1 percent walk rate in 127 games. Unlike many young Guardians infielders, Brito won't add much defensive value, either at second or third base, so he needs to reach his potential as an offensive player. He is already on the 40-man roster and could debut in 2024 if there is a need.
