2026 Fantasy Outlook
Ferrer was a workhorse for the Nationals in 2025, logging a career-high 76.1 innings that ranked ninth overall among relief pitchers. The southpaw led Washington in holds (21) and WPA (0.78) while maintaining the lowest walk rate (4.9 percent). He tossed more sinkers (71 percent pitch usage) than ever to produce a 62.6 ground ball percentage that ranked third among qualified relievers. Ferrer didn't strike many batters out - his 21.9 percent K-rate was slightly below league average - but he did produce one of the highest whiff rates in the league (47 percent) among those who tossed a minimum of 200 changeups. After Washington traded closer Kyle Finnegan, Ferrer took on the majority of the Nats' save opportunities, racking up 11 of the team's 16 saves over the final two months (68.5 percent share). Ferrer appeared set to be a part of the late-inning mix for Washington again in 2026, but he was instead traded to Seattle in December. The 25-year-old is now likely to begin the season in middle relief since Andres Munoz is locked in at closer with Matt Brash and Gabe Speier in setup roles. Read Past Outlooks
Back from paternity leave

Analysis
Ferrer missed the first three games of the series against the Astros as he welcomed a new baby to the family, but he'll be available for Thursday's finale. The hard-throwing southpaw has been terrific in his first season as a setup man in Seattle, boasting a 1.80 ERA and 16:3 K:BB over 20 innings.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
With plenty of recent turnover in the Nationals bullpen, Ferrer is suddenly one of the team's top options for 2025 save chances. The 24-year-old southpaw was one of Washington's better relievers in 2024, though he only tallied six holds, one win and one save across his 31 appearances. The sinker-baller throws hard (98 mph on average), and while he doesn't strike out many batters, he carries a 57.3 percent groundball rate that would have been a top-20 mark among relievers if he pitched enough innings to qualify. Ferrer significantly improved his walk rate last year - from 9.2 percent in 2023 to 4.7 percent. If this sticks for 2025, regular save chances are possible. He's worth a late dart in drafts, especially if Washington doesn't add to its bullpen over the coming months.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
On Mariners' radar
Ferrer is on the Mariners' radar as they look for left-handed relief help, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.
Analysis
The Mariners are casting a wide net in their search for a lefty bullpen addition. Ferrer would be among the most costly of the options, given that he's under team control through 2029 and finished the 2025 campaign as the Nationals' closer. The 25-year-old put up a 4.48 ERA this past season, but that came with a 3.03 FIP and 59.6 percent groundball rate.
