Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Clase was on the Blue Jays' 26-man roster from mid-May to late June before being demoted to Triple-A Buffalo on July 1, where he spent the rest of the regular season. He wasn't that productive at the plate at the major-league level with a .588 OPS across 112 plate appearances, but he slashed .252/.332/.397 in 352 plate appearances in Triple-A while logging 30 steals (on 34 attempts), seven home runs, 19 RBI and 41 runs. Clase will likely open the 2026 season in the minors but would be a top candidate to be called up by Blue Jays should they require depth in the outfield. He doesn't provide power, but his baserunning ability gives him some fantasy appeal in deep roto leagues. Read Past Outlooks
Draws first call-up of 2026
The Blue Jays recalled Clase from Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
Analysis
Clase received his first call-up of the season after the Blue Jays had a need for an extra bat while George Springer (personal) is on the paternity leave list. Springer is expected to be away from the team for just 1-to-3 days, so Clase's stay with the big club will likely be a brief one. The switch-hitting outfielder has produced a .223./321/.359 slash line with five home runs and 17 steals over 53 games at Triple-A this season.

This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.
* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

The headline prospect Seattle sent to Toronto at the deadline in exchange for a couple months of Yimi Garcia, Clase fits better on a rebuilding team than a contending team due to his lack of high-end reads in the outfield and an approach at the plate that needs refinement. However, the switch hitter has 99th percentile sprint speed and 219 steals on 267 attempts (82% success rate) in 407 minor-league games. He's unlikely to ever hit 20-plus homers in a season, but Clase has 12 homers and a .439 slugging percentage in 94 Triple-A games, so he's not a zero in the power department. He doesn't turn 23 until late May, so he's ahead of schedule and should still be getting better on both sides of the ball. Clase has a chance to really move the needle in rotisserie leagues as a rookie, even if he's only playing regularly for a six or eight-week stretch, due to his ability to rack up steals in short stretches. He's got the upside to do so without tanking your team's power or batting average.

Up on taxi squad
Clase is with the Mariners as a member of the taxi squad for Sunday's game against the Orioles, reports Daniel Kramer of MLB.com.
Analysis
The 21-year-old could be added to the active roster in the coming days, but for now he'll serve as emergency outfield depth. Clase posted a .509 OPS in nine games while up with the Mariners in April, though he has an .878 OPS through 28 contests with Triple-A Tacoma this year.
