2025 Fantasy Outlook
Winker is a polarizing character on the field and in the clubhouse. He was an All-Star with the Reds in 2021 when he hit .305 with 24 homers, but in the years since he's bounced around from the Mariners to the Brewers to the Nationals to the Mets. There have been rumors that his boisterous antics may have worn thin with his teammates, although he seemed to fit in well in Queens, even if his numbers during that time weren't all that great. Childhood friend Francisco Lindor publicly endorsed Winker, which likely contributed to him re-signing on a one-year, $7.5 million contract. Winker, now 31, has always hit for a high average and OBP, but he has only reached 20 homers the one time. The 14 steals last season were a total surprise and should not be counted on again. Sitting against right-hander
Winker is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Though right-hander Cal Quantrill is on the bump for Miami, the left-handed-hitting Winker will take a seat, despite starting in both of the Mets' previous two matchups with righties. Starling Marte will step in for Winker as the Mets' DH and will handle leadoff duties.

Winker struggled in 2022 for Seattle with a .688 OPS, and he was even worst last season after being shipped to Milwaukee with a .567 OPS. He played in just 61 games for the Brewers due to injuries and said his struggles stemmed from the recoveries of multiple surgeries last offseason, but two straight poor campaigns can't be ignored. The veteran slugger was an All-Star for the Reds in 2021 with a 143 OPS+ and is still only 30 years old, so there's still plenty of runway to turn things around. Winker landed a minor-league contract with Washington during the offseason, which is probably an ideal landing spot in terms of potential playing time in 2024. A spot on the Opening Day roster is realistic with a decent showing in camp.

Willing to play first base
According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Winker said Wednesday that he can be an option at first base for the Mets in 2025.
ANALYSIS
The veteran outfielder has yet to see game action at first base during his time in the big leagues, but he did play there during a rehab assignment in 2023. Winker re-signed with the Mets on a one-year, $7.5 million contract last week, and there could be some opportunities at first base with Pete Alonso appearing likely to sign elsewhere.
