2026 Fantasy Outlook
Jump, who the Athletics selected No. 73 overall in 2024, generated a lot of buzz in the first half of 2025 but faded a bit down the stretch. He had a 13.50 ERA, 2.32 WHIP and 12:7 K:BB in 13.1 innings over his final four starts, finishing with a 3.64 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 86:29 K:BB in 81.2 innings at Double-A. The 6-foot lefty got up to 112.2 innings on the year after throwing 83 innings in 2024 at LSU. He had Tommy John surgery in 2023. At his best, Jump's deceptive delivery allows his 92-94 mph fastball (which touches 97 mph) to play up as a plus pitch. Evaluators differ on whether Jump has any other plus pitches, but his slider and curveball get strong reviews, while his fourth-pitch changeup is passable. The A's have spared Jump from an assignment to the unforgiving Pacific Coast League, but he will have to check that box of his development before he joins the big-league rotation. He has mid-rotation upside and would be more appealing in starts away from Sutter Health Park in the short term. Read Past Outlooks
Struggles again Sunday
Jump (3-3) allowed six runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out one over three innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Marlins.
Analysis
Jump gave up a pair of home runs, accounting for half of the runs on his line. He's now struggled in consecutive starts, giving up 11 runs on 19 hits and three walks over his last 7.2 innings, though both starts came at hitter-friendly Sutter Health Park in Sacramento. Jump is at a 3.98 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 41:13 K:BB through 43 innings over his first eight major-league starts. He's tentatively projected to make his next start on the road versus the White Sox.
