2026 Fantasy Outlook
Gonzalez just turned 22 in January, but he is already considered close to a bat-only player, which hurts his dynasty value. Limited to left field, where his defense is still below-average, and designated hitter, Gonzalez also bats right-handed and could be limited to short-side platoon work. He slashed .329/.395/.513 with 15 homers, eight steals, an 8.7 percent walk rate and a 14.5 percent strikeout rate in 123 games across High-A, Double-A and Triple-A. His 47.6 percent groundball rate prohibited Gonzalez from getting to all of his 55-grade raw power in games. His 36.1 O-Swing% and 13.8 SwStr% in 34 games at Triple-A were poor marks, but he should improve on those figures in a return to Triple-A. Gonzalez could find stretches of regular playing time over the next few years, but his poor defense and lack of patience at the plate will likely leave his big-league club wanting more. May 25, 2026
The Twins optioned Gonzalez to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Gonzalez was with the big club for its weekend series in Boston while Tristan Gray was on paternity leave. The rookie made one start and picked up his first major-league hit during his brief time in the majors, but with Gray back in the fold, Gonzalez will return to St. Paul.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Gonzalez excelled at every stop as an aggressive righty slugger until reaching High-A Everett as a 19-year-old last season. He slashed .348/.403/.530 at Single-A before a low .233 BABIP contributed to a .215/.290/.387 line at High-A. Gonzalez has a bad body for a 20-year-old corner outfielder, and he will need to show a more patient approach against advanced pitching in order to profile toward the bottom of the defensive spectrum.
Gonzalez has been on a rampage since debuting in the Dominican Summer League in 2021, compiling a career .307/.393/.491 slash line with 14 home runs and 18 steals in 121 games across the DSL, Arizona Complex League and Single-A. He was young for all of those levels and turned 19 in January, and he could open the year with an aggressive assignment to High-A. A right fielder who projects for above-average to plus game power, Gonzalez has excellent bat-to-ball skills and probably swings a bit too much at this stage. Additionally, he probably uses the opposite field too much (40.6 Oppo% at Single-A, 38.1 Oppo% in the ACL), although it shows how in control he is at the dish. Gonzalez's 53.6 GB% at Single-A was too high, but he has been adept at getting the ball in the air at previous stops, so that could just be a small-sample blip. Gonzalez is built kind of like Wander Franco, and projects to be a bit more compact than typical power/speed outfielders, so the expectation should be that his bat will drive his value, not his legs.

Climbing levels in Minnesota
OFMinnesota Twins  AAA
December 30, 2025
Gonzalez was a breakout prospect in the Twins organization during the 2025 season, according to Jonathan Mayo, Jim Callis and Sam Dykstra of MLB.com.
Analysis
Gonzalez used to be a Top 100 prospect in the Mariners' system, but he fell off the radar and was traded to Minnesota as part of the deal that sent Jorge Polanco to Seattle before the 2024 season. Gonzalez endured a slow start to life in the Twins organziation in 2024, hitting .255 with a .707 OPS, but he turned things around in 2025, raking across three levels and reaching Triple-A while slashing .330/.397/.514 throughout the minor-league season.
