Rest-of-Season Projections
Active for Single-A club
Pardinho (elbow) struck out three over two scoreless innings Wednesday in his season debut for Single-A Dunedin.
ANALYSIS
Pardinho was sidelined for the first two months of the season with a right elbow injury before he was cleared to join the Blue Jays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate for a pair of rehab outings. He showed enough in the two FCL outings to rejoin the Dunedin rotation, but he's still expected to have his workload monitored carefully throughout his age-21 campaign.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
Even though Pardinho, a Brazilian righty, was the consensus top international pitching prospect to sign on July 2, 2017, his size (5-foot-10, 155 pounds) understandably elicited skepticism. Those concerns were largely washed away with his dominant pro debut as a 17-year-old in the Appalachian League. The youngest pitcher in the league, Pardinho ranked third in K-BB% (23.7), third in WHIP (1.06) and fourth in FIP (3.75). He was almost four years younger than the average hitter he faced, but his elite command, quality four-pitch mix and advanced pitchability overwhelmed the former college hitters who populate that circuit. Pardinho can hit 96 with his fastball, but it typically sits in the low-90s. His curveball and slider already flash plus and his changeup is progressing. If he were 6-foot-4, Pardinho would be the trendiest pitching prospect in the lower levels. Size is less important, however, when a pitcher has his combination of stuff and command.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could debut in 2024
According to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca, Pardinho could be called up for his MLB debut this summer.
ANALYSIS
Pardinho recently moved up to Triple-A Buffalo after he posted a 1.01 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 37:10 K:BB across 26.2 frames out of the bullpen for Double-A New Hampshire. The 23-year-old righty joined the Blue Jays as an international signee in 2017 but was limited by injuries in the lower minors until this season. A strong showing in his first taste of Triple-A should give Pardinho a decent chance of being called up by Toronto before the end of the year.
