Eli Willits

18-Year-Old ShortstopSS
Washington Nationals A+
2026 Fantasy Outlook
The son of Reggie Willits, who hit zero home runs with 40 steals in 414 games in the majors from 2006-11 with the Angels, Eli was the No. 1 overall pick in 2025 and received the third-largest signing bonus in the class. The switch-hitting shortstop didn't turn 18 until December, and his status as the youngest prospect in the class is a big part of his appeal. Plus speed is Willits' most reliable tool, closely followed by his hit high-end tool and above-average shortstop defense. Power will be the swing skill, as he could realistically be capped at anywhere from 10- to 25-homer power, and that part of his game is almost all projection at this point. He will add muscle to his 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame, it's just a question of how much. He hit .300 with zero home runs, two steals, a 12:7 K:BB and a 127 wRC+ in 15 games at Single-A after signing, performing almost exactly as advertised. There is little consensus in this year's dynasty FYPD class, and Willits offers a high floor and a chance at a five-category fantasy shortstop. Read Past Outlooks

Moving up to High-A
SSWashington Nationals  A+
June 7, 2026
Willits was promoted to High-A Wilmington on Sunday, Kyle Williams of TheBanner.com reports.
Analysis
Willits will move up a level in the Nationals' minor-league farm system after producing a .300 batting average with six home runs, 37 RBI, 48 runs scored and 29 stolen bases over 190 at-bats in 47 contests with Single-A Fredericksburg so far this year. The 18-year-old was selected with the first overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, and he has an outside chance at being promoted to Double-A down the road this season.
