Bolton made a quick impression after being drafted in the sixth round by the Pirates in the 2017 MLB Draft. That said, it comes as little surprise that the Pirates handled his workload carefully, as he worked primarily out of the bullpen and rarely in longer than three-inning stints with Triple-A Indianapolis in 2022. His potential value to fantasy managers moving forward could hinge on how the Pirates use him in 2023, as they could opt to return him to a starting role. Assuming his body holds up, Bolton could be a back-end starter as scouting reports suggest he has three average pitches with average command. If he sticks in the bullpen, he likely doesn't have the velocity to work in high-leverage roles, leaving him irrelevant in most fantasy formats.
