Back in action at Triple-A
Triple-A Sacramento reinstated Whisenhunt (foot) from the 7-day injured list Saturday. He started in Sacramento's 5-4 win over Tacoma, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four over three innings in a no-decision.
ANALYSIS
Whisenhunt was out for a month with a foot injury and returned to Sacramento after pitching five scoreless innings over two rehab appearances at Single-A San Jose. He's struggled in his first taste of Triple-A, pitching to a 5.96 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 106:44 K:BB over 80 innings across 20 starts. A high walk rate has troubled Whisenhunt in the upper levels of the minors, though he still has elite strikeout stuff.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could debut this year?
Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle indicated "there will be a lot of rumbling" about adding Whisenhunt to the Giants' rotation after Alex Cobb was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with an oblique injury.
ANALYSIS
The 66th overall pick in the 2022 Draft, Whisenhunt has already made his way up to Double-A Richmond. The 22-year-old has a 2.45 ERA and 68:15 K:BB in 47.2 innings across three minor-league levels this year, and a promotion to Triple-A, or even the majors, could be on the horizon if he continues to pitch well. The lefty isn't a likely bet to be called up in the immediate future but could be an option later in the summer.
