2025 Fantasy Outlook
After being called up in June, Povich initially struggled against major-league hitters, going 1-7 with a 6.58 ERA over his first 11 starts. The lefty was demoted by the Orioles several times before finding his groove in September when he posted a 2.60 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 32:8 K:BB over 27.2 innings. Povich, a third-round pick in 2021, lacks high-end velocity but throws the kitchen sink. His minor-league numbers hint at room for growth with his strikeout rate and the team context is favorable -- even as the left-field wall in Baltimore is moving in. His performance over the final month might give him the inside track for one of the final rotation spots, but Povich will have to solidify his role in spring training. Read Past Outlooks

Fans eight in shaky outing
Povich allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over 4.1 innings during a no-decision against Boston on Monday. He struck out eight in the win.
ANALYSIS
Povich allowed all three runs in the first three frames, including two in the second inning on a Jarren Duran triple. Povich needed 94 pitches (59 strikes) to record 13 outs and found himself in several jams. He earned a spot in the Opening Day rotation with a 3.07 ERA and 15:4 K:BB through 14.2 frames during spring training. Povich will look to be a bit more efficient in his next start, which is currently lined up to be in Kansas City this weekend.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
While Povich lacks a truly special pitch, the 6-foot-3 lefty throws four or five quality pitches and showed improved control early this year in a return to Triple-A as a 24-year-old. He had a 14.7 percent walk rate in 10 starts at Triple-A last year and sports a 9.1 percent walk rate through 11 starts in 2024. This significant improvement suggests Povich should be a good bet to make it as a starter long term, and he could be given that first opportunity before the All-Star break. He throws his 91-94 mph four-seamer over 40 percent of the time while mixing in his cutter, changeup, sweeper and curveball. It seemed like Chayce McDermott and Povich each had a similar chance of breaking through as quality starters for the Orioles this year, but McDermott's control has regressed while the younger Povich's has improved, so Povich is currently the top pitcher in the system to stash.
