2026 Fantasy Outlook
Elbow trouble sabotaged Miller's 2025 season, as he was first shut down in mid-May with inflammation before making a second trip to the injured list in June. His performance when available was a far cry from his breakout 2024, with his FIP jumping from 3.58 to 5.17. Miller's stuff was down and he finished the regular season with just an 18.9 K% over 90.1 innings. While he pitched well for Seattle in the postseason with a 2.51 ERA across 14.1 innings and indicated he was feeling the best he had all season, there was talk of another PRP shot after the Mariners were eliminated. Surgery was not expected to be necessary heading into the offseason, but it sounds like Miller may need additional treatment for what is said to be a small bone spur in his right elbow. No-decision in season debut
PSeattle Mariners
May 13, 2026
Miller (oblique) allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out three over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Wednesday.
Analysis
Miller missed over a quarter of the season while recovering from a left oblique strain. He threw 58 of 81 pitches for strikes in his season debut, so he may have had a slight workload limitation in place. That will likely continue in his next start, tentatively expected to be against the White Sox, as Miller and Luis Castillo are expected to work as a tandem in that game to buy the Mariners some time to sort out what to do with their rotation, which has six healthy starters. As long as Miller pitches well, he's likely to be a starter moving forward, though he'll also need to stay healthy as he tries to bounce back from an ugly 5.68 ERA and 1.41 WHIP across 90.1 innings in the 2025 regular season, which was disrupted by elbow troubles.

Stat Review
How does Bryce Miller compare to other starting pitchers?
This section compares his stats with all starting pitcher seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 120 innings)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity, Barrels/BBE %, Balls Hit 95+ MPH %, and Spin Rate are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 120 IP). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.
  • K/BB
    Strikeout to walk ratio.
  • K/9
    Average strikeouts per nine innings.
  • BB/9

The percentage of batted ball events resulting in a Barrel. A Barrel is a batted ball with similar exit velocity and launch angle to past ones that led to a minimum .500 batting average and 1.500 slugging percentage.
  • Spin Rate
Spin Rate is the rate of spin on a baseball after it is released. It is measured in revolutions per minute (rpm).

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
2023
Miller had a breakout sophomore campaign with outcomes that would have been even better if Seattle had a better offense to support him. Somewhere, Felix Hernandez nods in approval and is offering Miller a supporting hug. Miller made 18 quality starts, winning 12 of them, while using a septet of pitches highlighted by the debut of a fantastic splitter. Miller watched other teammates use the pitch effectively in 2023 and honed it himself over the winter. The addition of the splitter paired extremely well with his fastball, as both pitches had opponents' batting averages below .200 and whiff rates above 25 percent. The league hit nearly 75 points worse off the fastball now that it had a more effective partner in crime than the traditional changeup from 2023. The pitch change particularly helped Miller against lefties who hit nearly 100 points lower than they did in 2023 and helped him become more split neutral in 2024 compared to his imbalanced 2023 season. Miller has everything needed to take his career and production to another level, if the Seattle offense comes along for the ride in 2025.
Miller is a fascinating pitcher to study because we expect to see rookie pitchers struggle in some areas, but in this case, there is not any one thing that sticks out as the source of his 4.32 ERA. Miller was stingy with walks, was tough to hit, and stranded runners at a league-average rate. His extreme flyball outcomes left him more susceptible to homers than other starters, but even his 1.2 HR/9 ratio was not terribly out of whack for someone with his volume of flyball outcomes. Simply put, this was a solid foundational beginning to what could be a bright pitching future if he can fine-tune some things. His whiffiest pitch is his fastball, which speaks to a need for him to find a secondary offering that can get swings and misses when needed. A six-pitch repertoire may be better suited if tuned down to four pitches. Seattle has steadily increased his workload, so 170+ innings is there for the taking if he is ready for it.
When factoring in movement and shape, Miller's mid-90s fastball is a 70-grade pitch. He also has a plus mid-to-high-80s slider. Those two offerings allowed him to climb three levels of the minors in 2022, with over half his innings coming at High-A and a 10-start run to close the year at Double-A. He had three double-digit strikeout games over his final 13 starts, compiling a 3.46 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 81:22 K:BB in 67.2 innings over that run to close the year. The 24-year-old righty might have a good enough one-two punch in his fastball and slider to have success as a starter who relies heavily on two pitches, but improving his changeup would really help matters. The Mariners don't love sending prized pitchers to the Pacific Coast League, so it's possible Miller will return to Double-A to start the year and he may even bypass Triple-A altogether down the road. He could help the club this summer as a reliever if they wanted to ease him into big-league action while continuing to view him as a long-term starter.

Poised for arbitration hearing
PSeattle Mariners
January 15, 2026
Miller requested $2.625 million and was offered $2.25 million by the Mariners when arbitration figures were exchanged last week, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis
With the two sides unable to reach an agreement, an arbitration hearing will be scheduled in the coming weeks. The righty will be receiving a nice bump in pay either way, as this is his first year of arbitration eligibility. Miller missed a chunk of the 2025 season with injury, finishing the regular season with a 5.68 ERA and 74:34 K:BB over 90.1 innings. He returned to pitch down the stretch of the regular season and playoffs and is expected to report to spring training without restrictions.
