Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Wynns gets the cushy role of serving as the Sunday catcher and the day game after a night game catcher behind Shea Langeliers in 2026. Wynns endeared himself to the Athletics after being acquired in-season with his work behind the plate and with the pitchers. That does not help fantasy managers, much like his bat these days. He is the prototypical second catcher behind an All-Star that will be happy doing what's asked of him and will be much more useful to those who play Immaculate Grid on a daily basis than to fantasy managers in 2026. Hitless in rare start
Wynns went 0-for-3 with a run scored and a walk in Sunday's win over Cleveland.
Analysis
With Shea Langeliers away from the team following the birth of his child, Wynns drew a rare start behind the dish Sunday but was largely unable to capitalize, reaching base only once via a walk in the sixth inning. The 35-year-old has appeared in 13 games this season, going 3-for-35 (.086) with three singles and three walks. With an off day Monday, Langeliers is likely to return to the lineup for Tuesday's series opener in Philadelphia, sending Wynns back to a reserve role.

2019
Wynns went from the Phillies to the Giants via trade last June and wound up playing a decent amount with the big club over the final four months of the season. The 32-year-old lost his spot on the 40-man roster in January, but he remains in the organization and could get another shot if something happens to Joey Bart or Roberto Perez.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could rejoin Giants soon
Wynns could be promoted by the Giants in the near future after Joey Bart was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a mid-back strain.
Analysis
San Francisco still has two catchers on the roster with Blake Sabol and Roberto Perez, but Sabol is a Rule 5 draft pick that has yet to prove he's good enough behind the plate. The Giants also signed Gary Sanchez to a minor-league deal Friday, though he's unlikely to be game ready in the immediate future. Wynns represents a familiar veteran option that would provide some quick stability despite his offensive deficiencies.
