2026 Fantasy Outlook
Nimmala slashed .224/.313/.381 with 13 home runs and 17 steals in 120 games for High-A Vancouver but it was a tale of two seasons for the young shortstop. He had a .566 OPS over his last 79 games after starting the year with a .917 OPS in his first 41 games. While he finished the year as a below-average hitter (92 wRC+) in the Northwest League, Nimmala was the youngest qualified player in the league and fourth-youngest qualified hitter at High-A, so he should be graded on a bit of a curve. He finished 2024 on fire (.888 OPS over his final 55 games) but it was the opposite trend to close 2025. That said, he cut his strikeout rate from 30.7 percent in 2024 to 21.4 percent in 2025 while keeping his walk rate steady at 10 percent. Nimmala's stock is down after this summer-long slump, but he still has a chance to be Toronto's shortstop of the future. The only other players 19 and under to hit 13-plus home runs with double-digit steals and a strikeout rate under 25 percent last season were Konnor Griffin, Eduardo Quintero, Edward Florentino, Sebastian Walcott and Colt Emerson. Moves up to Double-A
The Blue Jays promoted Nimmala from High-A Vancouver to Double-A New Hampshire on Sunday.
Analysis
Nimmala will make the jump to Double-A after submitting a .241/.362/.483 slash line with four home runs and two stolen bases over 105 plate appearances for Vancouver to begin the season. Not set to turn 21 years old until October, Nimmala will be one of the youngest players in the Eastern League, so if he can produce at even a league-average level for New Hampshire, it would bode well for his chances of emerging as the everyday shortstop for Toronto at some point in 2027.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Nimmala struggled after an aggressive assignment to Single-A, where he was one of the youngest players and hit .167 with a 34.4 percent strikeout rate in 29 games before getting transferred to the development list for a few weeks. He then logged a 176 wRC+ with more walks than strikeouts and four extra-base hits in eight Florida Complex League games before returning to Single-A in late-June. From there, Nimmala slashed .265/.333/.555 with 13 home runs, six steals, a 6.8 percent walk rate and a 30.4 percent strikeout rate over his final 53 games. It's awfully rare for an 18-year-old shortstop to hit for that kind of power against full-season pitching, but obviously there's a lot of swing-and-miss still to clean up. Nimmala is still filling out his 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame, so he might offer 30-homer pop when it's all said and done. He's a boom-or-bust dynasty prospect, but the fact he's a high-pedigree shortstop (No. 20 overall pick in 2023, $3M bonus) who's already showing advanced game power gives him a path to everyday work even if he doesn't reach his ceiling as a hitter.
