2026 Fantasy Outlook
Geraldo Perdomo's MVP-caliber season has the Diamondbacks scrambling to find a position for Lawlar, who spent much of 2025 at Triple-A Reno. He played second base (24 games), third base (33) and shortstop (20) in the minors. For Arizona, Lawlar broke through in September (.308/.364/.487 slash line) after going hitless in his first 31 at-bats. What became evident are defensive struggles at the hot corner, which relegated him mostly to DH and PH work in the final weeks of the season. The 23-year-old spent time in the Dominican Winter League with a mission to get comfortable in center field. Lawlar either needs to get better at third base or be competent in center, because Perdomo and Ketel Marte are locked in at middle infield. Offseason rumors that the club is listening to offers for Marte indicate Lawlar may eventually have a home at second base. That Lawlar's bat showed promise in September is a positive sign, as he had gone a combined 4-for-62 (.065), including his MLB stint in 2023, prior to his September production. Read Past Outlooks
