The 27-year-old held a small edge in playing time over Jacob Stalling behind the plate for Miami last season, and Stallings has since been let go. Fortes ended up playing in 108 games and had a .204/.263/.299 slash line, which is a sharp drop from the .696 OPS he posted in 2022. He still provided a strong presence behind the plate, which should give him a strong chance at sticking with the big club for 2024. Fortes was never a major offensive threat during his minor-league career, so he seems unlikely to break out and become a solid option for fantasy managers.
