2026 Fantasy Outlook
Casas endured a second straight season impacted by injury, as a serious knee injury ended the campaign in May. He wasn't productive when healthy, posting a slash line of .182/.277/.303 with three home runs across 29 games. The last two seasons have sullied the sheen of the once-promising prospect, who is two years removed from a rookie season that saw him swat 24 homers with an .857 OPS over 132 games. That version of Casas would be an everyday presence, but early in the offseason, Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow refused to commit to him as team's starter at first base. Rumors of Boston's interest in free agent Pete Alonso only served to emphasize Casas' uncertainty. Alonso eventually signed with Baltimore, leaving Boston to rebuild Casas or seek alternates. Manager Alex Cora supports the 25-year-old first baseman but acknowledged that Casas needs to be healthy. After returning to the playoffs and calling up their best prospects in 2025, the Red Sox are unlikely to roll with uncertainty at 1B. Read Past Outlooks
