Caratini inked a two-year contract with the Astros in December of 2023, and he proved to be one of the best backup catchers in baseball during 2024, both offensively and defensively. He launched eight home runs in 87 games and had a .269/.336/.408 slash line, which helped him net 11 appearances at first base, which doubled his playing time at the position from the previous four years combined. Yainer Diaz is locked in as Houston's starting backstop, but Caratini could have some streaming upside if he's able to produce similarly in 2025, which seems realistic given his .263 xBA and .407 xSLG last year. He could gain broader appeal if Diaz misses any significant time. Read Past Outlooks
