The veteran first baseman split the 2023 campaign between Milwaukee and Pittsburgh and had a .747 OPS with 23 home runs, 86 RBI and 78 runs in 146 games as he revitalized his career, and he put up similar numbers for Minnesota in 2024 with 23 long balls, 71 RBI, 63 runs and a .238/.328/.420 slash line in 150 contests. It's Santana's second straight season with an OPS over .700, and he's hit at least 18 homers in each of the past 13 full-length seasons and has a double-digit walk rate in every year of his career. There's a growing risk of decline since Santana will turn 39 years old in April, but for the most part he's been a reliable lower-tier first baseman in fantasy. However, his .240 batting average in 2023 was his highest since 2019, and he could be a drag in that category since often derives a lot of real-world offensive value from his keen eye and on-base percentage.
