Days after Garcia was non-tendered by the Rangers during the offseason, the team traded for Brandon Nimmo, who is expected to take over Garcia's old position in right field. It was another down year for Garcia, who posted a second consecutive sub-.700 OPS - his .675 OPS ranked 117th among 123 qualified hitters - and swatted fewer than 20 home runs for the first time since becoming an everyday major leaguer. His barrel and hard-hit rates also took a dive as did the outfielder's bat speed. The 32-year-old is only two seasons removed from leading the Rangers to a World Series championship in 2023 (.323/.382/.726 in 15 playoff games), when he also won a Gold Glove and earned an All-Star nod. Garcia's status as a free agent generated early buzz in the offseason, and the outfielder's reputation and slugging potential should land him a job with a team in need of a big bat.
