2024 Fantasy Outlook
Sborz opened the 2023 campaign on the IL with an ankle injury that he suffered late in spring training. He was activated in mid-April and filled a multi-inning relief role for the Rangers, but eventually ascended into a setup role. The 30-year-old racked up six wins and 14 holds for the World Series champions, but spent more time on the injured list later in the season with various ailments. Sborz's 36.9 whiff percentage was a 98th percentile metric and he finished with a 30-plus percent strikeout rate for the second straight season. His ERA was inflated at 5.50, but his xERA was 3.35 and his 1.15 WHIP was a top-50 mark among qualified relievers. There's definitely some upside in his profile, but Sborz has been injured on five separate occasions over the past two seasons, making it hard to justify the fantasy investment even in the deepest of leagues.
