2025 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Malloy made his MLB debut in 2024 and mostly performed as expected based on his prospect profile. The 24-year-old popped eight home runs, though they all came during his first 45 games, when he sported a .747 OPS. Pitchers seemed to figure out Malloy from that point on, as the rookie finished the year with no long balls and a .460 OPS over his final 27 games. As is often the case with young sluggers, Malloy struggled to make consistent contact, and he struck out a whopping 37 percent of the time. In his last full year in the minors in 2023, Malloy struck out only 25 percent of the time for Triple-A Toledo. He also finished with an .891 OPS and 23 home runs that season. That illustrates the upside for Malloy if he's able to cut down on the strikeouts in the majors. Another key question in 2025 will be playing time, as the Tigers have Riley Greene, Parker Meadows and Wenceel Perez in the outfield, along with Kerry Carpenter in a DH role. Malloy seems most likely to push Perez for a spot in the field, and he could also spell Carpenter when needed as the DH. Malloy has some intrigue based on his power potential, though he'll need a regular role to take full advantage. Read Past Outlooks
