2025 Fantasy Outlook
Rodriguez spent the last year-and-a-half in Japan with the Yakult Swallows, posting a 2.77 ERA and 67:25 K:BB across 78 innings. The right-hander has eight appearances under his belt at the major-league level, having allowed 35 runs in 33 frames. He'll compete for a bullpen or swingman role this spring. Read Past Outlooks
$Signed a one-year contract with the Brewers in January of 2025. Contract includes team option for 2026.
Moves to bullpen
PMilwaukee Brewers
April 13, 2025
Rodriguez worked in relief in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Rockies, retiring one batter via strikeout and allowing a double to the other batter he faced.
ANALYSIS
With Jose Quintana completing his ramp-up program at Triple-A Nashville and getting called up to make his Brewers debut Friday, Rodriguez ended up shifting to the bullpen. The Brewers' decision to drop Rodriguez from the rotation came as little surprise, as he had served up 11 earned runs on 14 hits and two walks over nine innings between his two starts. He'll likely see most of his usage in lower-leverage spots moving forward.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Rodriguez had a rough MLB debut in 2022, posting a 10.62 ERA and 1.92 WHIP across 29.2 innings. He made seven total appearances, with those five of those being starts. Rodriguez never really got comfortable, and his lowlight was allowing 10 earned runs in a start against the Yankees on June 30. The 24-year-old's results with Triple-A Toledo weren't much better, as he registered a 4.98 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 99.1 innings. The Tigers simply dealt with a lot of pitching injuries in 2022, with the likes of Eduardo Rodriguez, Matt Manning, Casey Mize and Tarik Skubal all missing time, which opened up the opportunity to Elvin Rodriguez despite not really dazzling in the minors. He was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo in November, so he's now off the 40-man roster and looks like organizational depth at best heading into 2023. Based on his 2022 results, Rodriguez likely shouldn't be on the fantasy radar even if he returns to the majors at some point.

PDetroit Tigers
September 29, 2022
Rodriguez is staying in Toledo and working out should the Tigers choose to promote him over the final week of the season, reports Evan Woodbery of MLive.com.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez was shelled in 26 innings for the Tigers this year, compiling a 10.04 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and allowing 10 homers in six appearances, including five starts. He fared better for Triple-A Toledo but still struggled with the long ball and free passes. If he's recalled, the 24-year-old will likely pitch in relief.
