Austin Martin News: Still in outfield mix
Martin went 0-for-3 in Thursday's win over Boston and is hitting just .231 (6-for-21) with three stolen bases during Grapefruit League play.
Despite the lackluster spring, Martin still appears likely to make the Opening Day roster as a short-side platoon option in the corner outfield, per Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune. The 26-year-old has also seen action at second base this spring, so Martin could get some time at that position as well. Martin received regular at-bats over the final two months of the season and capitalized on the opportunity by hitting .282 with a 113 wRC+. While he lacks power, he notched 11 stolen bases in just 50 games in the majors in 2025.
