Recommended Pickup

Alex Wood, SP, ATL -- Wood proved to be a dependable fantasy option earlier this season upon posting a 3.00 ERA and a 44:9 K:BB ratio over seven starts, but his star faded in May, when Gavin Floyd's activation from the disabled list forced him into long relief. Soon thereafter, the Braves decided that Wood would be better served getting consistent starts at Triple-A Gwinnett, but he stayed in the minors for all of two outings before Floyd suffered a fractured elbow, resulting in yet another lengthy DL stint for the right-hander. Floyd's latest injury likely ensures a long-term spot in the major league rotation for Wood, who figures to excel once again in the role. There's a good chance in shallower formats that Wood was dropped by his previous owner once he was moved to the bullpen, but based on what he displayed earlier this season as a starter, he certainly warrants more ownership. He gets a favorable outing his first time back Wednesday against the Astros, who as a team have struck out in 22.9 of their plate appearances against left-handers, the fifth-worst mark in the league.

Other Recent Recommendations: Rubby De La Rosa, Chris Johnson, Adam Eaton, Steve Pearce and Jake Arrieta
