Closer Watch

Toronto -- Casey Janssen closed out Tuesday's 4-1 victory over the Brewers without too much aggravation, yielding one hit in a scoreless frame. The 32-year-old has been magnificent since returning from a lower-back injury that resulted in a stay on the disabled list, converting 13-of-15 opportunities while providing a 1.00 ERA and 0.94 WHIP. He's one of the more stable options out there among closers, even if his reputation wouldn't seem to suggest as much.

Recommended Pickup

Jesse Hahn, SP, SD -- It's very hard to for a starting pitcher to find the win column when his offense provides him with just one hit the entire game, but that's what exactly happened to Hahn on Monday, as the right-hander shut out the Reds for five innings in the 1-0 victory. While Hahn didn't work deep enough in the game to notch a quality start, he's still pitched like an ace for the Padres through five turns, posting a 4-1 record, 1.95 ERA (2.73 FIP), 1.04 WHIP and 36 strikeouts over 27.2 innings. The winning percentage might not keep considering the Padres' historically bad offense, but by nearly any statistical measure, Hahn has been responsible for his own good fortune. While he lacks much prior big league experience to fall back on, he's posted dynamite numbers at every level since being selected by the Rays out of Virginia Tech in 2010. He'll be further aided by calling Petco Park his home environment, where his flyball ways won't prove nearly as costly.

Other Recent Recommendations: Mookie Betts, Dayan Viciedo, Josh Harrison, Marcus Stroman and Mike Zunino
