Closer Watch

Braves -- Jason Grilli was charged with a blown save Monday after an error put Melvin Upton Jr. on third base, then a Cory Spangenberg sacrifice fly brought him home. Hard to overly fault Grilli for the unearned run, and it's just his second blown save of the season. Grilli's been giving up a few hits too many, but otherwise has been quite a decent closing option and isn't in any danger of losing his job.

Padres -- Slow closer news night, so this is a good time to note that Craig Kimbrel picked up his 200th save Monday, finishing off his old team in the 11th inning. He's successfully converted those 200 saves in just 318 career appearances – 41 fewer than it took Jonathan Papelbon, who was previously the quickest to reach that mark. Kimbrel's only blown 20 saves in his career, and he's struck out 508 batters in 311 career innings. One word: Yowsa.

Recommended Pickup
Carlos Correa, SS, HOU – Well, who else? The 20-year-old Correa sparkled in the field and beat out an infield single for his first major-league hit and RBI in his Astros debut Monday, and he's likely to be a fixture in their lineup going forward. The 2012 No. 1 overall pick raked in Double-A, hitting .385/.459/.726 in 29 games with Corpus Christi, but it took him some time after being promoted to adjust to Triple-A pitching before heating up last week, and we should expect a similar adjustment period in the majors. Still, he's got both pop and speed at a position where plenty of fantasy owners are in need, so Correa's got plenty of value in redraft leagues as well as sky-high value in keeper formats. Bid aggressively -- even if he doesn't fit your team's needs, he can surely help someone in your league.
