Closer Watch

Oakland – Jim Johnson's horrid start to the season was extended Wednesday. After finally converting a save Sunday, Johnson allowed two more runs while being yanked early by letting four of five base batters reach base. He has allowed seven runs in 3.1 innings and the Athletics have to be thinking about a change. Ryan Cook, Sean Doolittle and Luke Gregerson lie in waiting.

Recommended Pickup

Yangervis Solarte, 2B, NYY – Career minor leaguer Solarte continues to bust through after getting a surprise shot at playing time with the Yankees. Solarte has hits in seven out of eight games he has played this season, collecting six doubles and seven RBIs along the way. He has just one strikeout in 24 at-bats. The former Rangers farmhand offers limited upside after hitting .276/.323/.403 and .288/.340/.405 in Triple-A in his previous two seasons. Still, AL-only and deeper leagues should keep an eye out since he has performed so well early on.
