Closer Watch

White Sox - Spotted a three-run lead, Ronald Belisario entered the fray Saturday against the Yankees following eight splendid frames from John Danks, who gave up no runs on three hits and no walks, including a mere four baserunners. A disaster didn't seem imminent, after Belisario set down two of the first three batters, but the next four reached base in short order, plating three runs and sending the game into extra innings. The blown save marked his first in three chances since he was named the closer following Matt Lindstrom's placement on the disabled list Tuesday due to a torn tendon in his left ankle. Although Belisario has yielded a run in each outing in the interim, boosting his ERA to 5.14, his 2.91 FIP this season relays that he's been royally unlucky, which explains manager Robin Ventura's unwavering trust (so far) in the 31-year-old right-hander. If Belisario's struggles continue, though, the White Sox may turn elsewhere -- Scott Downs, Daniel Webb, Zach Putnam, or Jacob Petricka -- but those pastures aren't exactly greener.

Recommended Pickup

Adam Dunn, 1B, CWS - Dunn dominated all comers in April, ending the month with a .276/.409/.526 line and five home runs in 76 at-bats. However, he endured a slump to lead off May, recording five hits and five walks across his first 29 at-bats, before smacking his first long ball in 15 games on May 16. Since that trip to Houston, he's feasted on Royals and Yankees pitching as well, batting .258 (8-for-31) with three homers, 10 RBI, six runs, and an 11:11 BB:K. With Josh Tomlin on tap Monday, Dunn has a fair chance to reach base yet again, considering he's generated three walks and cleared the fences once in nine career plate appearances versus the right-hander.

Other Recent Recommendations:Lonnie Chisenhall, Jimmy Nelson, Seth Smith, Kole Calhoun
