Veronica Burton

25-Year-Old GuardG
 Golden State Valkyries  WNBA
2026 Fantasy Outlook
After playing minor roles in Dallas and Connecticut to begin her WNBA career, Burton latched on with the Valkyries via the 2025 WNBA Expansion Draft and was arguably their best player all year during Golden State's inaugural campaign. Burton started every game in 2025, pacing the team in assists (6.0 per game). She was second on the team in points (11.9) and steals (1.1) per game, but in both categories, she trailed Kayla Thornton, who made only 22 appearances due to injuries. Burton was a restricted free agent during the offseason, and she ultimately agreed to a multi-year contract with the Valkyries ahead of the 2026 campaign. Following the strong all-around production that she displayed in her first year with Golden State, she should remain a strong fantasy asset in 2026. Read Past Outlooks
Sniffs double-double in win
GGolden State Valkyries
June 9, 2026
Burton amassed 25 points (7-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 9-11 FT), eight assists and three rebounds across 37 minutes in Tuesday's 87-81 win over the Mercury.
ANALYSIS
Burton turned in an efficient shooting performance from inside the arc and got to the charity stripe often, finishing with a game- and season-high-tying 25 points. The 25-year-old guard also dished out a team-best eight assists after totaling just six dimes in her previous two appearances. Burton has scored in double figures in two of the last five outings, averaging 13.0 points, 5.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds per contest while shooting 39.6 percent from the field during that stretch.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
2023
After two seasons in Dallas, Burton was let go and joined Connecticut for the 2024 campaign. Burton had a slow start with the Sun, but she eventually found a role and averaged 16.2 minutes per game over the final 31 contests, including the postseason. After being selected by the Valkyries in the WNBA Expansion Draft this offseason, Burton is competing for backcourt minutes with Tiffany Hayes, Julie Vanloo, Kate Martin and Cecilia Zandalasini. Given their experience, Hayes and Vanloo will likely open the 2025 season as starters. However, Golden State's rotation is subject to change nightly as the WNBA's newest team acclimates to the league. Burton has never been a reliable fantasy contributor, but she's also never played more than 15.2 minutes per game in a season, which she could easily clear with her new squad.
The seventh overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft, Burton is coming off her sophomore season. She appeared in all 40 games, averaging 2.4 points, 2.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.8 rebounds in 13.9 minutes. The biggest area of improvement for Burton going forward needs to be her efficiency. She shot just 29.4 percent from the field and 27.1 percent from deep last season. Passing and defense are a strength for the young guard, however. She averaged 5.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 0.8 blocks per 40 minutes as a sophomore. If she can increase her workload and efficiency in Year 3, she’ll have some fantasy upside.
The Wings selected Burton with the seventh overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft, and she settled into primarily a fluctuating bench role as a rookie. However, she started nine of her final 10 appearances and averaged 5.9 points, 3.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 24.2 minutes per game, all up from her season-long averages. While her increased production as a starter was encouraging, her role emerged when Arike Ogunbowale was sidelined due to an abdominal injury. Ogunbowale should be healthy to begin the 2023 campaign, and the Wings also signed Crystal Dangerfield to a multi-year deal during the offseason. Burton is primarily a defensive-minded option, so even if she maintains a regular bench role in 2023, she's unlikely to be a significant fantasy contributor.
