Kia Nurse

30-Year-Old GuardG
 Toronto Tempo  WNBA
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Nurse served mainly as a starter in three of her first four WNBA seasons, but she's had to settle for a part-time starting role across the past three years. The 30-year-old has had relatively consistent production across those three seasons despite playing for three different teams in Seattle, Los Angeles and Chicago, averaging 6.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20.6 minutes per game. Availability hasn't been a concern for Nurse, who has appeared in every regular-season game in three consecutive seasons, and she's able to contribute in multiple areas. She's a somewhat high-floor, low-ceiling fantasy option who should be considered with late-round picks in most fantasy formats, but managers should be prepared to use her as a streaming option, especially if she's used as a part-time starter once again after agreeing to terms with the Tempo. Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024

2022
After operating mainly as a starter earlier in her career, Nurse was limited to part-time starting duties with the Storm and Sparks over the last two seasons. Her production took a hit, as she averaged just 6.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20.0 minutes per game. Nurse signed a one-year contract with the Sky during the offseason, and she'll likely have to compete for a starting role this spring. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see Nurse come off the bench since Chicago also brought back Courtney Vandersloot while acquiring Rebecca Allen during the offseason. Nurse has some scoring talent, especially from the perimeter, but it seems unlikely that she'll see enough playing time to be a reliable fantasy option in 2025.
Nurse started the first 20 games of last year, averaging 6.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 22.9 minutes. She moved to the bench after that, averaging 5.0 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 16.5 minutes. Regardless of role, she remains one of the more prolific sources of three-point production per-minute. Per 40, she averaged 2.5 made triples while shooting 35.0 percent from deep. She also excelled at keeping turnovers to a bare minimum, racking up just 0.7 per game. Ultimately, Nurse is a three-point specialist for fantasy, so rostering her in formats that cater to the three-ball is especially advantageous. She's proven capable of handling a starting role during her career, and it wouldn't be surprising to see her compete for a spot in the starting five with the Sparks. However, Los Angeles also acquired the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft as part of the trade that brought Nurse to Los Angeles, so the team now possesses two of the top four picks in this year's draft. Nurse's results have declined over her past three WNBA seasons, but she'll attempt to bounce back in 2024, even though the Sparks are poised to add multiple impactful rookies as part of their rebuild.
Nurse missed all of last season with the Mercury following a torn ACL, and she moved on to the Storm during the offseason. When we last saw Nurse - 2021, her age 25 season - she averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 26.1 minutes. She struggled with efficiency, slashing 36/35/79, though she took most of her shots from three (5.2 3PA). Her presence should help cover some of the lost production of Sue Bird, who retired after 19 seasons. Still, fantasy managers shouldn't expect high usage out of Nurse, who has mostly made an impact as a three-point shooter rather than a pure scorer, passer or defender
Nurse saw a slight downturn in her scoring last season upon her transition from New York to a deeper and more talented team in Phoenix. Still, Nurse maintained solid production, shooting 35.9 percent from the field while matching a career-best 35.3 percent from beyond the arc. Unfortunately, Nurse also suffered a torn ACL during the playoffs and is scheduled to miss much, if not all, of the 2022 season.
