Kayla McBride

McBride turned in another consistent season in 2023, posting averages of 14.3 points, 3.2 boards, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals while starting 38 games. The three-time All-Star saw a notable bump in three-point shooting, taking a career-high 6.4 per game and hitting at a 34.2 percent clip (2.2 makes per game). A proven veteran with a solid track record of health, McBride makes for a relatively safe fantasy investment as she enters her age-32 campaign. She'll occupy a starting backcourt spot for the Lynx and should again be in line for a heavy workload (31.8 MPG in 2022). While McBride may not be elite in any one area, she's a strong across-the-board contributor who adds value as one of the WNBA's elite free-throw shooters (career 89.5% FT).

McBride knows her lane and has kept in it throughout her lengthy career, averaging 13 points in both seasons with the Lynx and all but one campaign overall. She finished 2022 averaging 13.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals while shooting 35.6 percent from deep, all in line with averages that have been relatively constant throughout her career. There's little reason to anticipate either a surge or dropoff in those numbers, though she lost her backcourt mate, Moriah Jefferson, to free agency. Tiffany Mitchell will instead join her, though it's unlikely that will have a significant impact overall. McBride is essentially a high-floor, low-ceiling fantasy option, providing stability in the middle rounds of drafts.

McBride joined the Lynx on a multi-year deal ahead of the 2021 campaign, and she served exclusively as a starter while appearing in every game for her new team. Her production remained consistent, averaging 13.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 31.6 minutes per game across 32 appearances. The 29-year-old had issues steadily generating offense early but finished the year by tallying double figures in 15 of her final 19 appearances. While McBride has shown just brief glimpses of fantasy upside during her career, she's averaged double-digit scoring totals in each of her first eight seasons in the league and has a relatively high fantasy floor while displaying plenty of consistency on a nightly basis. She'll continue to occupy a starting role in 2022 and should retain similar numbers to last year.
