31-Year-Old GuardG

2026 Fantasy Outlook
Copper missed the first month of last season after undergoing offseason knee surgery, and it really wasn't until around midseason that she was ready to take on a full workload. Her overall numbers dipped after a career season in 2024, but Copper still produced strong averages of 15.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 26.9 minutes per contest across 28 regular-season appearances. The minutes per game were the 31-year-old's fewest since the early part of her career, but there should be plenty of optimism that Copper will have no restrictions to open 2026 after she averaged 34.2 minutes per game during Phoenix's playoff run. The Mercury had several key players, including Copper, hit unrestricted free agency during the offseason, but they managed to bring back Copper, Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner ahead of the 2026 campaign. May 16, 2026
Copper ended Friday's 91-83 victory over Chicago with 17 points (3-16 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 10-10 FT), five rebounds, one assist and three steals in 34 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Copper struggled mightily from the field, but her work at the free-throw line were enough for her to finish tied with Alyssa Thomas as the Mercury's second-leading scorer behind Jovana Nogic (27 points). Copper connecting on just 32.4 percent of her field-goal attempts this season (including 18.2 percent from three on 5.5 3PA/G) and is averaging 17.8 points, 2.3 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals over 33.3 minutes per contest.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2022
Copper enjoyed plenty of success over her final four seasons in Chicago, but she was traded to the Mercury before the 2024 campaign. Despite playing alongside the WNBA's all-time leading scorer, Diana Taurasi, Copper had a career-best year, averaging a career-high 21.1 points to go with 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 32.4 minutes per game. Availability hasn't been a concern for the 30-year-old, as she hasn't missed more than six games in any of her nine professional seasons. Copper is entering a contract year in 2025 and should have plenty of opportunities to showcase her abilities following Taurasi's retirement and Natasha Cloud's departure. The Mercury acquired Alyssa Thomas and Satou Sabally during the offseason, but Copper was consistently dominant during her first year in Phoenix, and she has plenty of upside heading into 2025.
The Sky underwent a complete overhaul last offseason, moving on from Candace Parker (Aces), Courtney Vandersloot (Liberty) and Allie Quigley (free agent), so Copper was thrust into a leading role in 2023 and thrived, averaging a career-high 18.7 points to go with 4.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.9 steals in 31.2 minutes per game. Chicago rewarded Copper with a multi-year extension last September, and she appeared to be on track to be the cornerstone of the rebuilding franchise. However, the 2021 WNBA Finals MVP was surprisingly traded from the Sky to the Mercury in February, leaving Chicago's roster in flux while joining what has become a viable playoff contender in Phoenix. While the 29-year-old won't be the clear-cut No. 1 option as part of a team that now includes players like Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi, Natasha Cloud and Rebecca Allen, Copper has proven her ability to make a real-life difference for her team and should remain a solid fantasy option in 2024. While her scoring production could take a hit with her new organization, she should have little trouble finding a prominent role in Phoenix.
Copper is coming off a career-best season in which she averaged 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 28.7 minutes and posted relatively efficient 48/36/78 shooting splits. She projects as the No.1 scoring option for Chicago again this season, giving her a reasonably high floor in fantasy. She doesn't provide anything as a defender, but she's showing progress in other areas of her game and took an impressive 4.2 free throws per contest last year.
Fresh off of a WNBA Finals MVP award, Copper inked a multi-year contract this offseason with a Sky club that retains most of its roster from last year's championship run. Copper finished the 2021 regular season averaging 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists over 30.8 minutes per contest. Her shooting numbers were on par with the previous campaign both in volume (11.8 attempts compared to 12.1 in 2020) and efficiency (54.3 true shooting percentage; 56.1 percent in 2020) and she should maintain a similar role this season as Chicago aims for back-to-back titles.
