Elizabeth Williams

Williams signed a two-year contract with Chicago ahead of the 2023 campaign and took on a prominent role in the team's frontcourt with Isabelle Harrison missing the entire campaign. Williams stepped up as a well-rounded contributor, averaging 9.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 steals in 29.7 minutes per game. She tended to be an inconsistent scorer but was productive as a passer and was a solid defender, leading her to be a reliable fantasy contributor. While Williams has proven to be a talented player over her first nine years in the WNBA, it's unclear how her role may change if Harrison is back in action in 2024. However, Williams should at least maintain a fairly sizable role since Alanna Smith and Morgan Bertsch will be playing elsewhere this year. Williams should continue to be a solid contributor when she's on the court and should garner her fair share of playing time, but her fantasy upside depends on how her role transpires alongside Harrison.

After a one-year stint with the Mystics where she came off the bench, Williams signed a two-year deal with the Sky this offseason, likely seeking a bigger role. She averaged just 5.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in 14.9 minutes last year but 10.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists and 1.4 blocks across 29.2 minutes in 2020 as a full-time starter. Optimistic fantasy managers can hope Williams ends up in a role more like 2020. She's an efficient shooter from the field but provides nothing from the three-point line and struggles at the charity stripe. The real upside to her game is her defense. In 2021, she averaged an impressive 1.3 blocks and 1.1 steals in only 23.8 minutes.

Williams was part of a mass exodus from Atlanta this offseason, signing on with the Mystics on a one-year deal. Williams had a down season in the scoring column in 2021, averaging her lowest mark since her rookie season in 2015 at just 4.8 field-goal attempts per contest. However, Williams was a presence on the offensive glass, ranking 11th in the WNBA with 2.0 offensive rebounds per game despite playing fewer minutes per contest than any other player in the top 14. With Elena Delle Donne, Myisha Hines-Allen and Alysha Clark all able to stretch the floor efficiently, Williams should have more room to work on the inside this season. Williams seems a candidate to claim a starting role with the Mystics this season, though Clark and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough could also factor in.
