DeWanna Bonner

38-Year-Old ForwardF
 Phoenix Mercury  WNBA
2026 Fantasy Outlook
After five years in Connecticut, Bonner followed head coach Stephanie White to Indiana but appeared in only nine games (three starts) before falling out of favor and requesting a trade. She was ultimately waived and signed with Phoenix. The veteran forward had a larger role with the injury-depleted Mercury but she finished with career-low averages across the board during her age-38 season. She elected to re-sign with the Mercury during the offseason and could push for a larger role after Satou Sabally joined the Liberty. Bonner can still put the ball in the bucket, but her overall production is never going to be as prolific as it was a few years ago. Read Past Outlooks
Shooting woes off bench in loss
FPhoenix Mercury
May 24, 2026
Bonner amassed four points (2-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt), three rebounds, two steals and one assist across 24 minutes in Sunday's 82-80 loss to the Dream.
ANALYSIS
The veteran forward saw fewer than 30 minutes of action for the first time since the regular-season opener, moving to the bench in favor of Noemie Brochant. Bonner struggled from three-point range once again and is now shooting just 20.7 percent from deep on the campaign. Despite her offensive struggles, Bonner still recorded multiple steals for a second straight game.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025

2023
2022
Bonner played for just two teams over her first 15 seasons in the WNBA, but she'll join Indiana for her age-37 campaign. She found success while playing alongside Alyssa Thomas and Brionna Jones in Connecticut in recent years and will join another strong frontcourt tandem in Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard with the Fever. Bonner has had consistent production in recent years and hasn't missed a game the past two seasons. Over those two seasons, she averaged 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 31.0 minutes per game. Even though she'll have a change of scenery during her 16th WNBA season and will play alongside Boston and Howard while also sharing some of her workload with Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, fantasy managers shouldn't feel many reservations about selecting Bonner in the earlier rounds of drafts.
Bonner averaged 13.5 points per game in 2022, but that mark improved to 17.4 points per game in 2023. Although the 36-year-old saw an increased role in the frontcourt with Brionna Jones sidelined for most of the year, Bonner's stats in secondary categories remained lower than they were earlier in her career, as she averaged 5.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 30.1 minutes per game. However, she appeared in every game despite consistently going up against centers on defense in Jones' absence. Bonner also attempted a career-high 5.7 three-pointers per game while maintaining the same 32.9 percent conversion rate that she had in 2022. The 36-year-old re-signed with Connecticut this offseason and will continue playing alongside fiancee Alyssa Thomas.
Bonner was an All-Star in 2021 but took a slight step back last season, as her scoring, rebounding, assists and defensive numbers all regressed. She did shoot 43.9 percent from the field - her best figure since 2018 - but overall Bonner may be nearing the end of her peak years. With that said, she remains a solid fantasy asset, due in part to the fact that she's rarely missed time throughout her 13-year WNBA career.
Bonner took a backseat to the reigning MVP Jonquel Jones during the 2021 campaign and averaged career-lows in points (15.2) and rebounds (6.4) per game. Nonetheless, the 6-foot-4 forward was still one of the more productive post players in the league, and Connecticut's high-powered offense is certainly capable of harboring multiple fantasy-relevant players every game. A healthy Alyssa Thomas and the addition of Courtney Williams may cut into the 34-year-old's overall production once again, though most of the minutes will come from the departure of Briann January. Bonner is still expected to be a top option behind Jones.
