Ens marks his second consecutive loan spell after spending last season at Verl, where he made 37 third division appearances and scored three goals. The center back came through Paderborn's academy, progressing through every level of the youth setup, and has made five 2. Bundesliga appearances for the first team. Sporting director Sebastian Lange praised his development at Verl and said the move is designed to give him further experience at a high level. Ens is expected to compete for regular playing time during his loan spell in the third division.
