Stamenic created three chances in Sunday's loss to Egypt, leading the Kiwis from a creative standpoint despite playing in defensive midfield. His best came in the 52nd minute when his cross found Callum McCowatt's head, but Mostafa Shobeir came up with an excellent save. Stamenic also took two shots on the attack, though neither were particularly threatening. He was not as strong with his defensive duties as Egypt dominated the second half, scoring three goals and stealing the victory. Next up is the final group stage match versus Belgium on Friday, a must-win match for New Zealand in order to advance to the knockouts.
