Young returns from a stint at Reading in League One that ran from February through the end of last season, a loan in which he struggled to make a consistent impact. Prior to that he had a spell at Belgian club Royal Antwerp and provided an assist for Villa in a Europa League win over Red Bull Salzburg that kept the second legs of that season's knockout rounds at Villa Park. He now moves to Annecy in Ligue 2, part of a wider development pathway Villa have built with the French club under their V Sports multi club ownership structure, which is designed to give Villa's young prospects regular senior football in a controlled environment rather than through the open domestic loan market.
