Laszlo Benes News: Joins Gent

Benes signed with KAA Gent ahead of the coming season following his permanent departure from Union Berlin, the club announced.

Benes made 25 competitive appearances for Union Berlin in his only season at the club, contributing two goals and one assist including two memorable late substitute goals against Mainz and Werder Bremen that secured important Bundesliga points. In order to gain more playing time, the technically gifted left-footed midfielder joined Kayserispor on loan in the Turkish Sper Lig, where he established himself as a regular starter and delivered one of the more consistent campaigns of his career with seven goals and two assists across 32 appearances in over 2,500 minutes of action. The 28-year-old Slovak international, capped 42 times for his country, now heads to Belgium with his confidence and rhythm restored after an impressive loan spell, with Union Berlin wishing him well for the next chapter of his career.
