Felipe Sanchez News: Joining Santos Laguna on loan

Sanchez has joined Santos Laguna on loan from Schalke 04 for the 2026/27 season, his parent club announced Sunday. Santos has a clause that obliges them to sign Sanchez if he plays a certain number of matches during the loan spell.

Sanchez has spent the last two seasons at Schalke 04 and has made 30 appearances in total over that stretch. However, his playing time was going to diminish considerably in the Bundesliga, so the defender will now play in Liga MX. He should have a clear path at regular first-team action with Santos, who had one of the worst defenses in Liga MX during the 2025/26 campaign.
