2026 Fantasy Outlook
Gilliland was modestly improved in his fourth full-time Cup Series season in 2025. The Front Row Motorsports driver grabbed a career-high five Top-10 finishes during the campaign and lowered his average finish to a career-best 20.8 for the season. Despite these small gains, it wouldn't fetch better than 27th-place in the final driver point standings. FRM returns this team intact for 2026 and with crew chief Chris Lawson once again teaming with Gilliland. The team's sweet spot appears to be intermediate and larger ovals, so they'll focus on that. Prospects for improving short track and road racing performance seem slim at best. Gilliland is just 25-years-old so modest gains are possible, but we don't expect any earth-shattering improvements. As long as he stays at Front Row Motorsports there's going to be a cap of limitation on the success he can achieve. Read Past Outlooks
Sixth at Bristol
Gilliland picked up his first Top-10 finish of the season with a sixth-place finish in Sunday's Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
ANALYSIS
It's been a long season for Gilliland, who entered Bristol with just one finish in the Top 20 all season. Despite starting the Food City 500 in 35th, Gilliland managed to move up near the top of the field after a risky two-tire stop and was able to maintain his position near the front. Up next for the Cup Series is Kansas, a track where Gilliland has historically struggled with zero Top-10 finishes in eight Cup starts, though he did finish 12th in both races in 2025, his best results at the track.

This will be season three for Gilliland at Front Row Motorsports. His previous two campaigns in the No. 38 Ford showed some gradual improvement. Gilliland nabbed four Top-10 finishes last year and finished 28th in the final driver standings. While his gains were only modest, he still earned another year in the team's Ford Mustang. His future at Front Row will likely hinge on this season. He'll once again be paired with crew chief, Ryan Bergenty. Gilliland needs to find more Top 10's, whittle down his 22.0 average finish and look to penetrate the Top 25 in the driver standings in 2024. Those are all attainable goals and likely ones that he'll need to complete to earn more seat time at Front Row Motorsports. As long as Michael McDowell continues to perform well in the team's other Ford, the bar will be set pretty high for Gilliland.
